The book starts off talking about an 82 year old birthday boy, 43 rare pressed flowers and a detective that is not satisfied with the results of his latest murder case.
The novel mentions violence against women to start the first section.
The first few chapters take place on Friday, December 20.
Blomkvist tried to publish some information that he had and was brought to court, charged with libeling, and sentenced to 3 months in gaol and 150000 kronor damages. He wonders how he had lost and feels that his opposition was really weak during the trial. He suspects something fishy may have occurred.
Wennerstrom was the businessman that Blomkvist was up against.There was talk of money lost to embezzling and Wennerstrom possibly embezzling money from some companies.
Armansky is the CEO of COO. He is a very successful businessman. Slander is a colleague of Armansky. The two have done several jobs together and solved many cases. Slander lacks emotion and this angers Armansky greatly. Slander seems to be stupid, but she is really a genius.
The book goes on to talk about Blomkvist’s case. A magazine company named Millenium loses a reporter, Blomkvist. The company is discussed by Lisbeth and Armansky and the case appears to be the duos new target.

Stieg Larsson Biography
Stieg Larsson
1954-2004
Stieg Larsson was born in Northern Sweden in 1954. Unfortunately his parents were too poor to raise him so they gave him to his grandparents where he was raised and lived a normal life. After his grandfather died he moved back in with his parents and brother. On Stieg’s twelfth birthday he was given a typewriter. He often times stayed up all hours of the night writing stories. Stieg and his life partner Eva had to live in constant fear of right-wing violence. Stieg found writing as a way to relieve stress. He used writing as a way to protect himself and Eva from all of the violence. Stieg loved to travel even though he never had enough money. Many people called Stieg “obsessed” with his work. Eva and Stieg lived together until Stieg died in 2004.
